Would you prefer to go to heaven, or be reincarnated?

Posted on Sep 27th, 2007 by Matthew : Pathfinder Matthew
This is in Response to the Questions and Reflections for September 26, 2007:

Reincarnated. Because the whole idea behind reincarnation is progression through attainment of wisdom and insight... and also the idea of a permenant heaven or hell has never appealed to me- it is just so fixed and permenant.
Religions that teach of heaven and hell say that a person has only one lifetime- one tiny horrifyingly miniscule dot in the scope of existance, and your decisions in that microscopic lifetime have ETERNAL consequences. In the scope of eternity, that just seems like such small hope.
But, skeptical as I am, I don't really believe in either reincarnation or heaven. But I would like to believe in reincarnation.

What was the greatest spiritual challenge of your life?

Posted on Sep 10th, 2007 by Matthew : Pathfinder Matthew
This is in Response to the Questions and Reflections for September 09, 2007:

Renouncing Christianity. I grew up in a Christian household and went to a Christian school, and it was exrtremely hard to go against everything I had been brought up with. Christians in general are not accepting AT ALL and if my friends parents knew at the time they wouldn't have let their kids have anything to do with me. My mom still cries, and tells me every time we talk that she "has been praying for me"

Would you rather live in a treehouse or cave?

Posted on Sep 7th, 2007 by Matthew : Pathfinder Matthew
This is in Response to the Questions and Reflections for September 07, 2007:

A treehouse. Despite the obvious aesthetic differences a cave would be much too conducive to head colds

What's your favorite day of the year?

Posted on Sep 3rd, 2007 by Matthew : Pathfinder Matthew
This is in Response to the Questions and Reflections for September 03, 2007:

Christmas Eve. It's always so exciting and the weather is usually nice. (I live in fl and look forward to the cold.) Christmas Day is always a little dissapointing, because its so hyped up I start to overestimate it, but nothing beats the goodwill and anticipation of C.E.

What's the most positive thing that religion offer?

Posted on Aug 29th, 2007 by Matthew : Pathfinder Matthew
This is in Response to the Questions and Reflections for August 29, 2007:

Joy, but my answer is not objecetive. My view is that the only way a person can be truly happy is to follow their convictions to the point of eliminating all contradictions, i.e. be true to themselves. If someone believes a certain religion to be the absolute truth, than they will find joy through that religion. My personal convictions have not led me to a religion yet, so for me (unlike my mother and millions of other people) religion does not = joy.

We are all searching for the same thing, yet we find it in different places.
